Business climate in the renewable energy industry cools down

Münster (Germany) – the business climate in the renewable energy sector in Germany became rather overcast in May 2006. The corresponding business climate index of the International Economic Platform for Renewable Energies (Internationales Wirtschaftsforum Regenerative Energien, IWR), Münster, slumped to 101.2 points in May (April: 109.5 points). Compared to the previous month, April, companies were of the opinion that the current business situation had slightly worsened and were significantly more pessimistic about forecasts for the coming six months. “After the high index values achieved already this year, it was clear that this situation could not persist, not least because of the decline in prices in important renewable share certificates”, says IWR Managing Director, Dr. Norbert Allnoch. He went on to say that the industry’s utilization capacity remained high and that overall economic prospects continued to be positive.
