En Chine, les émissions de gaz à effet de serre atteignent un niveau record

Münster – En 2007, la Chine a augmenté ses émissions de gaz à effet de serre à une cadence telle qu’elle a atteint le niveau record de 6,4 milliards (Md) de tonnes (2006 : 5,9 Md), ce qui représente une hausse d'environ 500 millions de tonnes par rapport à l’an passé, a annoncé le Forum économique international des Energies renouvelables (Internationales Wirtschaftsforum Regenerative Energien - IWR) à Münster. D’après les calculs actuels, les Etats-Unis devancent de peu la Chine avec 6,6 Md de tonnes (2006 : 6,5 Md). Au total, 30,9 Md de tonnes de gaz à effet de serre néfastes pour le climat ont été émis en 2007 à travers le monde, soit plus que jamais.

« Deux pays affichent à eux seuls déjà plus de 40 % des émissions de CO2 annuelles, ce sont les Etats-Unis et la Chine », a affirmé le Dr. Norbert Allnoch, directeur de l’IWR. Alors que les rejets augmentent plutôt lentement aux Etats-Unis, leur croissance persistante en Chine devrait la conduire, en 2008, au premier rang des pays émetteurs de gaz à effet de serre, selon les prévisions de l’IWR.
