RENIXX

Münster (Germany) – The new RENIXX® stock index (Renewable Energy Industrial Index) has been successfully launched. At its start on 2 May 2006, the world’s first stock market barometer for the renewable energy industry rose to 1005.30 points (start: 1000 points) and by midday had reached an interim high of 1016.22 points. "Launching the RENIXX® provides a further important step in raising the profile of the emerging renewable energy technology sector," says Dr. Norbert Allnoch, head of the International Economic Platform for Renewable Energies (IWR) in Münster. According to Allnoch, companies from all over the world are listed on the RENIXX® stock index, which is published by the IWR, with around 900 million tradable shares.

The RENIXX® comprises 15 international companies whose weighting in the index is based on their market capitalization (free float). Thus the Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas leads the rankings ahead of its Spanish competitor Gamesa. In third place is the german SolarWorld AG from Bonn.
