Current Study on Wind Energy Use - Presentation at the Hanover Fair 2006

Last year the wind power sector in Germany once again had to announce decreasing installed capacity figures. Although a good result was achieved, with an installation of 1,049 wind turbines (WT) and a newly installed power of 1,808 Megawatts (MW), this is a decrease of approx. 11 percent over the previous year (2,036 MW). Worldwide, however, a record result could be celebrated, with other 11,400 MW.

The wind power industry is currently in a phase of upheaval. How strong will this be and how will things continue afterwards?

To provide answers to these questions, Övermöhle C & M has carried out a market survey of over 60 wind power project developers in recent months. The up-to-date results are available in the:

Market Research - Wind Energy in Germany 2006

The study provides information on the market potential in Germany and worldwide. It also looks at the current situation in offshore wind energy use. Further subjects are operation and service, repowering, developments in turbine technology, wind energy project developers’ current plans and their expansion abroad. Along with its own work, there are also expert contributions from the various areas within the field from the experts themselves, bringing their own practical experiences and knowledge into the study.

“Installed capacity figures for Germany in 2006 will once again be lower. According to the firm plans of the wind farm developers surveyed approx. 1,400 MW (-22 percent) of new capacity will be installed. Worldwide, however, another record year is expected, with over 13,000 MW”, explained Klaus Övermöhle, head of Övermöhle Consult & Marketing. The German project developers will be especially able to benefit from this positive international development, as they were quick to successfully position themselves abroad.

The study is to receive its first public presentation at the Hanover Fair 2006, on 25.04.2006 at 11 a.m. at the “Vestas Central Europe“ company stand, Hall 13, Stand B 64 within the framework of a joint press conference with Mr Andreas Eichler.
