München (iwr-pressedienst) - Wind energy has become one of the fastest
growing sources of energy world-wide. Almost 7000 MW were installed, 2700
MW of them in the leading market Germany which will host the World Wind
Energy Conference and Exhibition on 2-6 July 2002, at the ICC -
International Congress Centre, in Berlin.

The World Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition takes place under the
patronage of Mrs Margot Wallström, Member of the European Commission,
responsible for Environment, and is promoted by the World Wind Energy
Association WWEA.

The event is realized by WIP Munich, ETA Florence, and the German Wind
Energy Association BWE. More than 50 wind energy organisations and
associations from around the globe, amongst them the German Federal
Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, for
Economic Cooperation and Development, for Economics and Technology, and
the German Foreign Office are supporting this conference.

The programme of the World Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition is
available and gathers the outline of all plenary sessions, interactive
visual presentations, various technical excursions and further highly
attractive side events. The conference will discuss the political,
economic and technical issues to reach the future success of the global
wind energy markets. The exhibition of wind energy equipment and services
will be open free of charge to visitors.

Additionally, continental fora are under preparation coordinated by the
World Wind Energy Association and key wind power players from around the
globe. In these fora the specific wind power needs of each World Region
will be discussed and specific continental strategies will be developed.
