Deutsche Windtechnik takes over service for two more wind farms from ScottishPower Plc

Bremen/Edinburgh (renewablepress) - The independent service provider Deutsche Windtechnik Ltd. has received two contracts from leading British wind farm project developer ScottishPower Plc. The signing of the contracts for a total of 34 wind turbines highlights the trust being placed in Deutsche Windtechnik, which has already been supporting 73 Siemens 2.3 MW turbines within a scope of full maintenance contracts since August of last year. The new contracts are set for three years – with the option of two extensions. The gained wind farm Hagshaw Hill II has 20 SWT-1.3-62 model wind turbines from the manufacturer Siemens®. For the wind farm
Wether Hill, with 14 turbines of the same type, the contract also includes the scheduled 10 years maintenance programme.

“We are delighted that we have been able to win more contracts with the customer ScottishPower. This step confirms the trust in our work in Britain to date,” says Matthias Brandt, Board of Deutsche Windtechnik, of the continued cooperation. The proximity to the Black Law location and the teams there allows us to achieve significant synergy effects and optimum organisation whilst guaranteeing our performance.

New projects create trust on the British service market
Billy Stevenson, CEO of Deutsche Windtechnik Ltd., sees even more positive effects that the new projects will have and hopes to see wide-reaching effects from the new agreement with ScottishPower: “For us, these contracts are the best proof that in the last three quarters we have carried out good service work in the Black Law and Beinn an Tuirc 2 wind farms.” As well as this confirmation of confidence from ScottishPower, these contracts also send a signal out to the British service market, which until now has always been dominated by manufacturers. We have shown that independent service providers can offer a real alternative and can compete with the services of the manufacturer.” The specialists at Deutsche Windtechnik have even honoured country-specific challenges, such as QHSE Standards and extensive reporting requirements, in their projects to date. “With our in-house developed NCCAPA reporting app, for example, we can fully address the needs of the market. Winning second place for this development in the Renewable UK Energy Health and Safety Award 2015 shows that we are heading in the right direction,” says Stevenson, speaking positively of the situation.

Expansion of the service market in Britain
“We are prepared to take on more service contracts and have the manpower and infrastructure to operate throughout the UK. A new central warehouse, already in planning, will also provide wind farm owners and operators with confidence in our intentions and commitment to delivering a professional and effective service to the market”, predicts Billy Stevenson. 52-year-old Stevenson has been CEO of Deutsche Windtechnik in Britain since March 2016. Previously he built up the service network of ENERCON Services UK Ltd. in the UK as its CEO. With this relevant experience, he plans to prepare Deutsche Windtechnik Ltd. optimally for the upcoming challenges, cooperation and expansion of the company.
