RES awards Nordex UK two new turbine contracts for a combined 42.5 MW
Hamburg - British renewable energy developer RES has awarded Nordex two new contracts for a combined 17 wind turbines with a total capacity of 42.5 MW.
Nordex will be supplying seven N100/2500 turbines for Turncole Wind Farm in Essex. Delivery is scheduled for July 2016 and the turbines will be fully operational by early 2017.
The second project, “Minnygap Wind Farm, is located in Dumfries and Galloway in south-western Scotland. Nordex will likewise be supplying N100/2500 turbines for this project from August of next year. Comprising ten turbines, Minnygap will have a capacity of 25 MW and is also scheduled for completion by early 2017.
Although geographically quite different, both sites are characterised by moderate wind speeds. Consequently, the N100/2500, which is designed for wind class IEC 2, is the perfect choice for these projects. Nordex will be installing the turbines on 75-metre towers at both wind farms and providing premium service for five years.
“Repeat business is the best compliment a customer can pay us. RES have owned operational Nordex turbines since early 2009 and know our products and our team well. We are delighted that RES chose Nordex for these two projects, and grateful for their trust in our products and our team,” says Nordex CEO Lars Bondo Krogsgaard.
RES is one of the world\'s leading independent renewable energy project developers and is active in a range of technologies including both onshore and offshore wind, solar, wave and tidal as well as enabling technologies such as energy storage and demand-side management. With more than 1,000MW of projects either constructed, under construction or consented in the UK alone,
RES is an influential and important partner for Nordex in this market. The Turncole and Minnygap contract awards will furtherstrengthen Nordex’s status in the UK.

As one of the technological leaders in multi-megawatt wind power systems, Nordex is benefiting from the trend in favour of large-scale turbines. The Generation Gamma range comprises the N90/2500, N100/2500 and the N117/2400, which is one of the most efficient series turbines for non-coastal regions. To date, over 3,600 of these turbines have been produced. With Generation Delta, Nordex is now offering the fourth generation of its proven multi-megawatt platform (N100/3300, N117/3000, N131/3000 as well as the N131/3000 for the German market). Nordex, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has installed more than 6,000 turbines with an aggregate capacity of over 10,000 MW all around the world.
