Deutsche Windtechnik continues its internationalization strategy and takes over the Spanish service companies GPS and Danowind

Bremen/Saragossa (Spain) - On 05.11.2014 Deutsche Windtechnik Service GmbH & Co. KG took over 100 per cent of the Spanish companies GPS S.L. (General Power Services S.L.) and Danowind S.L.. GPS has been providing independent service in Spain since 2009 focusing on NEG Micon®. Danowind’s operations involve the procurement of spare parts. Both companies employ a combined total of around 70 staff who provide service and support for more than 450 wind turbines in Spain of the type Vestas® and NEG Micon® under fixed service contract. As a result of this consolidation, Deutsche Windtechnik has expanded its service activities across Europe: after Poland and now Spain, contract negotiations in the United Kingdom are also close to conclusion.

Deutsche Windtechnik had experienced good business relations with the previous owners of the Spanish companies for many years so that the takeover could be planned clearly and carefully. The transaction provides numerous positive effects for all three companies involved. Integration of the two service companies provides Deutsche Windtechnik with an improved approach to increasing service enquiries and requirements from the Spanish region.

Independent service in Spain in demand
„Numerous clients have indicated that they want to place several international projects into the service responsibility of Deutsche Windtechnik. To facilitate this, it is essential to have a well qualified local team, ideally enhanced by our German service unit “, explains Matthias Brandt, Chief Executive at Deutsche Windtechnik AG, with regard to the consolidation. The three companies will now cooperate very closely in servicing Vestas® systems of the latest generation for which there is strong demand in Spain for independent services. Cost-effective cooperation will also be executed in the field of procurement of spare parts.

Hauke Behrends, Lars Behrendsand Matthias Brandt as Managing Directors of Deutsche Windtechnik Holding GmbH will be responsible for the international service activities of Deutsche Windtechnik. Melf Lorenzen and Javier Mozo Herrera will take on management responsibilities at the head office of the two Spanish service companies in Saragossa.
