New Energy Husum - Schleswig-Holstein implements the energy turnaround \"from the bottom up\"

Husum - The energy turnaround is a project that it is being implemented \"from the bottom up\". It is up to all parts of society to access renewable energy for themselves. The state of Schleswig-Holstein has set itself the ambitious goal of producing 90% of its energy consumption (electricity, heat, fuels) from renewable sources by 2020. This shows one thing: the energy turnaround does not take place in major cities like Hamburg, Berlin or Frankfurt. It takes place more in the periphery, the countryside, where it is also causing radical upheavals. The 90% goal can only be achieved when local communities, businesses and citizens can also find a way of profiting from renewable energy.

In the UN year of \"sustainable energy for all\", the renewable energy trade fair New Energy Husum and its congress agenda provides specific information and expert advice that facilitate individual entry into renewable energy. The congress topics include technical innovations (presented by such institutions and companies as the renowned Fraunhofer Institut ISE or E.ON Hanse), advice and information about decentralised energy production (e.g. EWS or German Small Wind Association BVKW), and also explosive energy policy debates. A panel discussion that includes Bärbel Höhn, deputy chair of the parliamentary party of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, deals with the topic of renewable energy and grid expansion (17 March, 10:30).

The congress focuses heavily on Denmark, the partner nation of this year’s New Energy Husum. The German-Danish cooperation project Furgy compares the technical, economical and legal framework conditions in both countries (16 March, 14:00). The issues discussed at the 3rd World Summit for Small Wind play a significant role in the future of small wind turbines, because the experts from all over the world will, be exchanging ideas about binding technical standards that will favour further innovative progress. The German Small wind Association (BVKW) and the World Wind Energy Association WWEA have long valued New Energy Husum as cooperation partner and venue.
