Nordex receives first N100/2500 order from Italy

- 25 MW for Calabria
- N100 is most frequently ordered turbine worldwide

Hamburg - The Italian Maccaferri Group has ordered ten Nordex N100/2500 turbines via its energy subsidiary Seci Energia. In addition to this, Seci Energia has signed a contract for at least five years of Nordex Premium Service.

The turbines will be installed in the \"San Biagio\" wind farm in Calabria Region as of July 2012. With a nominal output of 25 megawatts, \"San Biagio\" will generate more than 50 gigawatt hours of electricity a year, sufficient to cover the electricity requirements of some 15,000 Italian households.

\"Nordex Italia has more than 500 megawatt of wind turbines connected to the grid, primarily our N90 machine. With `San Biagio´ we will sell the first batch of the N100/2500 for installation in Italy, and we look forward to demonstrating the qualities of this product in mid wind conditions there\", says Nordex CSO Lars Bondo Krogsgaard.

The N100/2500 has become increasingly attractive for investors in Europe and North America, and has been the most frequently ordered Nordex turbine for the past two years. More than 180 N100/2500 turbines are on grid today. Italy is the ninth country where Nordex will be installing the N100/2500.

Nordex - a profile
As a technological leader among suppliers of megawatt turbines, Nordex benefits particularly from the global trend towards large-scale wind turbines. The product range includes one of the largest series wind power systems in the world (N80/2500, N90/2500, N100/2500, N117/2400) with more than 1,700 of these turbines having been produced to date. This means that Nordex has a crucial edge in terms of experience in operating large turbines compared to most of its competitors in the sector. Overall, Nordex has installed a more than 4,700 turbines with a capacity in excess of 7,100 MW around the world. With exports accounting for over 90 percent of its business, Nordex also has a strong position in international high-growth regions. The company has offices and subsidiaries in 19 countries. In total, the Group employs more than 2,700 people worldwide.
