PowerWind launches 500 kW wind turbine in Great Britain

Hamburg - Four years after successful introduction of its 900 kW wind turbine, PowerWind GmbH has developed a 500 kW turbine for the British market. The PowerWind 500 is now available. Equipped with a generator with a rated power of 500 kW, the turbine meets all technical requirements for the current, highly profitable feed-in tariff of 19.7 pence/kWh. Especially with its rotor diameter of 56 metres, the PowerWind 500 produces significantly higher energy yields than comparable products from other wind turbine manufacturers. Thanks to low noise emissions due to comparatively low speeds, the turbine is also suitable for sites near residential areas.

With more than 130 turbines of the type PowerWind 56 sold worldwide, PowerWind GmbH is now one of the most important providers of modern sub-MW wind turbines in Europe and the US. The German manufacturer specialises in meeting the needs of community wind customers. Besides high-quality technology products, this specific customer group is particularly interested in individual customer support, comprehensive availability, planning advice and financial advice as well as tailored service solutions. Customers of PowerWind include local project developers, medium-sized businesses, farms, schools, universities and recreational facilities.

PowerWind GmbH is a German manufacturer of wind turbines with 500 kW, 850 kW, 900 kW und 2500 kW rated power as well as a provider of product-specific services. This dynamically growing company was founded in 2007 and is financed by the international investor Warburg Pincus. The company is represented in Germany at two locations, Hamburg and Bremerhaven. The 900 kW PowerWind 56 wind turbine has been in series production since January 2008 at the state-of-the-art factory in Bremerhaven. The first 2.5 MW wind turbine of the type PowerWind 90 has been installed by the end of December 2010.
