juwi-Group Welcomes 1.000th Employee

- Specialist for renewable energy creates more new jobs

Wörrstadt - The juwi-Group, which celebrates its 15th anniversary next year, has passed another threshold. On November 2, the 1.000th employee joined juwi and was officially welcomed by juwi founders and CEOs Fred Jung and Matthias Willenbacher during a small ceremony this Thursday at the company headquarters in Wörrstadt (Rhineland-Palatinate). \"juwi remains a number one job engine. In the last two years alone we have created more than 600 new jobs and will provide many more in the future – in Germany as well as abroad\", announced Jung and Willenbacher.

juwi\'s 1.000th employee is 29-year-old Hakan Kurnaz from Bad Kreuznach, a city in Rhineland Palatinate. \"After working for ten years as a network technician, I lost my job due to cuts at my former place of work. But sitting at home is not for me. I wanted to find work again as soon as possible, so I\'m very pleased to have found a new position at juwi\", says Kurnaz who is now employed by juwi Solar GmbH. There he works as an electrician in the \"Private – Trade – Agriculture\" division which is responsible for small and medium-sized photovoltaic projects.

For juwi CEO Fred Jung, the age of renewable energy has just begun. \"Jobs in this sector have an enormous perspective and are crisis-proof. In Germany alone, the sector provides employment for more than 340,000 people. Investments in renewable energies are seen as money well invested, especially with regard to the job market\", says Jung. And fellow CEO Willenbacher adds, \"Up to the end of October 2010, we had received about 14,000 job applications, 2000 of them in October alone. At the moment we are taking on an average of one new employee a day. All this speaks for the fact that we will grow on a similar scale in 2011.\" In addition to the permanent staff of 1,000, juwi also provides work opportunities for more than 100 temporary employees, trainees and graduate students based at the company headquarters in Wörrstadt. This increases the total workforce at the company headquarters to 700, making juwi one of the biggest employers in the region.
