M+W Zander takes on complete technical and infrastructure supply for

- Planning and construction followed by operation of the machinery assets and buildings


Stuttgart, 14 May 2007 - M+W Zander FE GmbH, Stuttgart, has been awarded a contract for facility management at a factory of a photovoltaic industry. The plant constructor will take over complete technical and infrastructure supply for the First Solar module factory in Frankfurt (Oder). The contract runs until the end of the year 2011. The First Solar module factory was planned and constructed by M+W Zander as general contractor. Final production launch is planned for mid-2007.

"Comprehensive support from planning and construction through to operation of technical and infrastructure systems and buildings means that First Solar only has one single expert contact for operating the entire site," comments Robert Gattereder, Managing Director of M+W Zander FE.
Gattereder continues: "The customer is able to focus entirely on module production – we take care of the entire supply and interface management, and look after warranty tracking."

On the technical side, M+W Zander is responsible for providing the First Solar factory with uninterrupted supply of ultrapure water and gases, cooling water, compressed air. It also ensures that building systems are operating smoothly. Power supply and wastewater treatment also form part of facility management. Infrastructure services for the site covering an area of some 40,000 square meters include security, disposal and cleaning.

First Solar (www.firstsolar.com) produces solar modules using an advanced thin-film semiconductor process that significantly lowers the costs of solar power. First Solar offers a cost-effective alternative to fossil energies in the generation of renewable solar energy for peak loads at commercial prices.
