Conergy aiming to more than quadruple annual revenue in France - France

Paris, 13th February 2007 – Listed company Conergy AG (ISIN DE 00060 40025) plans to more than quadruple its revenue this year in France in a strong bid to expand its market share. Worldwide, Conergy is looking to increase sales by 60 percent, to €1.25bn, which would represent a much faster growth rate than the market for regenerative energy systems as a whole, which is growing at around 25 percent a year. “So far we’ve already realised a total area of more than 50,000m² of solar systems for our French customers. In 2007 attractive support programmes will further accelerate our growth here, to more than quadruple our returns in France to over 40 million,” said Emmanuel Berthod, Managing Director of Conergy France, at a press conference in Paris.

Expanded French corporate HQ and sales network doubles local presence
Conergy France is also set to more than double the number of employees in 2007 – thereby expanding the company’s French headquarters in Paris and forming its customer-centric nationwide distribution network. The Conergy Group finances major wind energy, bioenergy and photovoltaic projects for institutional investors via its subsidiary EPURON. SunTechnics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Conergy AG, likewise provides complete turnkey solutions for electricity, heating and cooling to both residential and commercial customers. Conergy Group will be presenting their latest product innovations and projects from 14.-17.02.2007 at the “Salon des Energies Renouvelables” in Lyon (Conergy: Hall 9, Booth 9134; SunTechnics: Hall 9, Booth 9634; EPURON: Hall 9, Booth 9542).

Conergy anticipates tenfold increase in demand for solar energy in Mediterranean region
“The demand for solar solutions in France and the western European Mediterranean region will increase more than tenfold within the next few years. Driving this market growth are steadily rising prices for oil and gas coupled with attractive incentives for regenerative energy. It’s a development that will lead in France as it has done in Germany to far in excess of one hundred thousand future-oriented jobs,“ says Hans-Martin Rüter, CEO of Conergy and president of the German Solar Industry Federation BSW. Already French buyback prices guarantee planning stability and lucrative investments in renewable energy systems: Wind energy is subsidised at around 8.34 cents/kWh, bioenergy at up to 10 cents/kWh. Recent legislative initiatives are creating a booming national market for photovoltaics; for example, system owners are now guaranteed up to 55 cents/kWh for a period of 20 years. The state even gives a tax refund for half of the initial costs to operators of smaller systems with a maximum peak power output of 5 kilowatts. That means that in France, solar energy systems pay for themselves in just 10-12 years. This investment in solar thermal systems is supported by various regional development programs as well, resulting in homeowners being able to reduce their heating costs significantly compared with conventional natural-gas or oil heating systems.

Conergy engineers realised France’s largest PV facility in 2006
With the realisation of the biggest crystalline photovoltaic power plant in the country, Hamburg-based Conergy AG sent a clear signal for growth in regenerative energy systems on the French market. The system installed at the bus station in Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne features rooftop solar panels as well as modules integrated into the building facade as solar screens that generate power on the spot straight from the sun. With a peak power output of 150 kilowatts, they feed enough power into the public grid to supply around 60 private households. Besides solar energy, Conergy additionally has long been a pioneer in other regenerative system technologies. One example: Conergy Services is responsible for the technical and commercial management of what is currently France’s biggest wind farm, in Fruges, with a peak power output of 140 megawatts.
