Sulzemoos, 20 December 2006 / Phönix SonnenStrom AG (ISIN DE000A0BVU93), a leading photovoltaic system integrator operating currently throughout Europe, has established a subsidiary in Singapore in December 2006. With the founding of this subsidiary, the company has taken an important step in entering the Asia-Pacific market, thereby successfully continuing to implement its strategy of international expansion. By the year 2010, business generated outside Germany should contribute more than 50 percent to consolidated sales.

Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd, with headquarters in Singapore, will be responsible for developing and building projects in the power plant sector throughout the whole Asian-Pacific region and for distributing photovoltaic components and systems. The range of products and services on offer covers both grid-connected solar electricity plants as well as stand-alone photovoltaic systems.

In the person of Christophe Inglin (44), newly founded Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd will be managed by a very experienced photovoltaic specialist. Over the past ten years in his capacity as Managing Director of Shell Solar Pte Ltd, Inglin has gathered extensive hands-on experience throughout the Asia-Pacific region. He was instrumental in implementing grid-connected solar electricity projects in Thailand, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as off-grid systems, mainly in China, Indonesia and Thailand. Inglin holds dual British and Swiss nationality. He will be supported by two solar industry experts: Chee Yeen Yee (35), a Malaysian national, is to be appointed Commercial Director, while Ho Chee Ming (39), from Singapore, will assume the position of Technical Director at Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd.

The Asian region is one of the most important photovoltaic growth markets. Conventional energy supply in the region is unable to keep pace with the swift economic growth. As a result, the countries of Asia are increasingly turning to renewable energies as a source of electricity. According to forecasts of the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA), the Asian market (including Japan) will make up around a third of the global market in 2007, positioning this region well ahead of the US.

"I am delighted to be able to take this major step into the Asian market with such an experienced and competent team", commented Dr. Murray Cameron, Chief Operating Officer of Phönix SonnenStrom AG. He went on to add that "the strategically favourable central position, an excellent infrastructure and well trained workforce make Singapore a prime choice as a location for expanding our international business in the Asia-Pacific region."

Phönix SonnenStrom AG holds a 75 percent stake in the newly founded company. The remaining 25 percent is distributed between Christophe Inglin, his director colleagues and one other shareholder.
