REpower supplies 20 wind energy turbines to Italy

- The Minervino project, at a total of 40 megawatts, is part of the framework agreement with EDF EN

Hamburg, 1 August 2006. REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) will be delivering 20 wind energy turbines of the MM82 type to Italy. The project – named Minervino – in the southern Italian region of Apulia is a part of the framework agreement concluded with the French EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN). It involves the delivery of up to 140 wind energy turbines of the 2-megawatt class in European key markets until the end of 2008. Based on this, both companies will mutually expand their partnership in the years ahead.

The 20 MM82 turbines for the Minervino project have an overall output of 40 MW, and each has a tower height of 80 m and a rotor diameter of 82 m. Erection should begin from July 2007 and be completed by the end of next year.

REpower Systems AG will carry out the project together with its wholly-owned subsidiary Italia S.l.r. "We are already one of the established players in Italy and are looking forward to further implement larger projects here”, commented Carlo Schiaparelli, Managing Director of REpower Italia, on the conclusion of the contract. "Furthermore, the agreement with EDF EN also comprises an option for seven additional MM82 turbines."

The head office of REpower Italia is located in Milan, Italy, while its service and maintenance centre is located in the city of Foggia, approximately 60 kilometres away from the Minervino site, so that this project can be provided with optimum local support.
