Dauerthal (renewablepress) - On 4 August 2026, ENERTRAG Service put a new training and qualification centre into operation in Dauerthal. To mark the start, the company welcomed four new service technicians from South Africa, five trainee electronics technicians for industrial engineering, and one trainee warehouse logistics specialist. The opening brings together talent development, international recruitment of skilled workers, and modern training infrastructure.

The new centre combines training, qualification, and further education in one place. All technical training rooms reflect the current state of the art. Alongside workshops for metalworking, hydraulics and pneumatics, and electrical and electronic components, a dedicated training room supports the qualification of service technicians and other specialists. It will host the onboarding of new service technicians, annual training sessions, and specialised qualification programmes. With the arrival of the South African colleagues and the new junior staff, the Dauerthal storage site goes into operation as a training facility ahead of its official opening at the end of September.

For the first time, ENERTRAG trains technical junior staff entirely on its own, without an external training partner. The first-year apprentices, five electronics technicians for industrial engineering and warehouse logistics specialists, will learn in the company's own training hall at the Dauerthal storage site. From 2028, a class of five apprentices is set to complete their vocational qualification each year.

Kanyisa, Siyabonga, Xabiso, and Njabulo from South Africa will strengthen ENERTRAG's service teams in Germany. They arrived on 31 July 2026 and began their programme in Dauerthal on 3 August 2026. First, they complete a German language course and technical training before joining teams at various sites as service technicians for the long term. The new South African colleagues belong to the second group of a relocation programme through which ENERTRAG Service recruits experienced specialists abroad. This helps the company counter the shortage of skilled workers and secure capacity for the further growth of ENERTRAG Service.

This year, the number of junior staff at ENERTRAG rises to 29 overall, nearly double the figure of the previous year. The range spans apprenticeships in office administration, industry, IT, catering, warehousing, and electronics for industrial engineering, as well as dual study programmes in marketing and digital media, business psychology, business administration with taxation and auditing, and industrial engineering.

The 2026 training year brings several new developments alongside the new infrastructure at ENERTRAG's headquarters in Dauerthal. Kiel joins as a new training site, and Berlin returns after 15 years. The profession of application development IT specialist is added, and the industrial clerk returns to the programme. In dual studies, ENERTRAG launches two new university cooperations, with the FOM University in Berlin and the HAW Kiel, and expands its cooperation with the HWR Berlin to include business administration with taxation and auditing.

“The energy transition is decided in rural areas, where the installations stand, where energy is generated, and where we need qualified specialists over the long term. That is why ENERTRAG Service relies on several building blocks: we recruit people directly from the region wherever possible, we train fully in-house for the first time, we create prospects for career changers, and we complement this with qualified specialists from abroad. Our new training and qualification centre in the Uckermark sends a strong signal: we invest not only in our own development, but in well-paid, long-term jobs and career prospects on the ground. This is how we combine securing skilled workers, regional value creation, and a secure energy supply. The fact that we are welcoming more junior staff than ever this year while also gaining four new colleagues from South Africa for our team shows that this approach works”, says Jan Neuhann, Managing Director of ENERTRAG Service.

About ENERTRAG

At ENERTRAG, we have been advancing the energy transition for over 25 years. Our more than 1,200 employees design, build and operate integrated power plants. These are based on combinations of wind turbines, solar installations, our own grid infrastructure, batteries and electrolysers. These technologies provide reliable, on-demand electricity, heat and green hydrogen – completely replacing fossil fuel power plants.

With our own plants, we generate around 2,000 gigawatt hours of electricity from the wind and sun every year and have been producing green hydrogen since 2011. Based on this, we are developing energy projects with a capacity of over 30 gigawatts in nine countries on four continents.

ENERTRAG embodies the global energy supply of the future: sustainable, secure and regionally anchored – protecting our planet for current and future generations.
