Premium partnership: UKA wind farm with 300th Nordex turbine takes shape

- Construction of Halenbeck-Warnsdorf wind farm marks a milestone for energy farm developer UKA in its close collaboration with Nordex. There are also other reasons why this project is a special one.

Meissen/Hamburg (renewablepress) - Energy farm developer UKA is celebrating the imminent construction of its 300th wind turbine based on its umbrella agreement with manufacturing firm Nordex. The construction of this unit is not the only thing that’s special about the Halenbeck-Warnsdorf wind farm in the state of Brandenburg.

“The long approval process with the authorities has tested our patience,” reports Sandra Hannusch, Team Leader Approval Planning at UKA in Cottbus. In her 14 years with the company, the Halenbeck-Warnsdorf wind farm project has proved to be one of the most challenging. Regular additional requests from the authorities caused a six-year delay in obtaining approval. But Hannusch and her team didn’t buckle. More expert reports, close collaboration with two other project developers, and intensive discussions with the rural district authority and the Ministry finally delivered the long-awaited outcome. Hannusch says, “I was so relieved to finally have the approval for the wind turbines in my hands after we had spent six years fighting for it! I am delighted that the 300th turbine from our close collaboration with Nordex will take shape right here.”

The approval is a success for UKA and for everyone involved in the project: The local community will benefit from additional income under Germany’s Renewable Energy Act and a share of the revenue from wind power, landowners will soon receive their rent for the turbines located on their properties, and Germany’s energy supply system will become yet a little more independent of fossil energy imports. Throughout Germany, UKA has completed the planning for a huge number of wind farms which are now in the approval stage, with a total capacity of more than two gigawatts.

“The fact that our projects can be implemented so reliably and cost-effectively is due to our very close and trust-based partnership with Nordex,” asserts Meik Jäschke, Team Leader Purchasing National at UKA, who has been part of the process since negotiations with Nordex first began. “Our partnership has continued to grow in recent years.

Although we used systems from Nordex previously, our collaboration really took off when we signed an umbrella agreement in 2020. Since then we have worked together to develop lean and efficient implementation processes and further improve the quality of our projects.”

UKA currently has wind farms with a total capacity of about 1.5 gigawatts under construction, and the initial work at the Halenbeck-Warnsdorf wind farm is to start at the beginning of 2026. The 300th turbine constructed as part of the partnership between Nordex and UKA will supply its first green electricity just a few months later.

“For us, the partnership with UKA is a textbook example of reliable collaboration,” says Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Central at Nordex Group. “Since the umbrella agreement was signed in 2020, we have implemented many projects together. Constructing the 300th Nordex turbine sends out a strong signal for the energy transition in Germany, and emphasizes the confidence that UKA has in our technology and our service.”
