BayWa r.e. sells 18 MW wind park in Gunzenhausen, Germany

Munich - BayWa r.e. has sold the wind park Gunzenhausen in central Franconia, Bavaria (Germany). Acquirer of the shareholding was an infrastructure fund for institutional investors of Union Investment. The wind park has an installed capacity of 18 MW, consisting of 9 Vestas V90-2.0MW GridStreamer turbines.

The sale represents another milestone for BayWa r.e., as Gunzenhausen is the first wind park realised in Bavaria. BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH, a subsidiary of BayWa AG (Munich), is responsible for the concern’s renewable energy business. BayWa r.e. was established in 2009 as a holding company, with participations in various companies who are active in solar, wind, bio-energy and geothermal energy. One such company, RENERCO Renewable Energy Concepts AG, was responsible for the development and turn-key construction of the wind park Gunzenhausen. Moreover, RENERCO will continue to be involved with the project during the operating phase in the capacity of technical and commercial operations manager.
