Press Invitation to 3rd Dii DESERT ENERGY CONFERENCE, November 7th-9th in Berlin

Munich - Desertec stands for the vision of a sustainable energy supply from deserts all over the world. Dii (launched as \"Desertec Industrial Initiative\") is a private industrial consortium working towards enabling this vision in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (EUMENA).
At the 3rd Dii DESERT ENERGY CONFERENCE, which will be held from November 7th-9th November 2012, in Berlin, Germany, we will present how key aspects of the Desertec vision could work in practice. Dii demonstrates how, based on proven technologies, solar and wind resources can be combined with grids to securely supply EUMENA with sustainable and affordable power.

For having access to the press conference at Federal Foreign Office, you should please also register for the Conference. Journalists have free access to the conference after registration. Please note: An official identity document with photograph will have to be presented at the entrance of the Federal Foreign Office (identity card or passport).

Nearly 400 people have already registered to take their chance to meet scientific, political and economic representatives from the entire EUMENA region and to discuss how a secure, affordable and clean electricity supply could be created. We are honored to have as speakers a unique line up with a long row of CEOs and ministers from EUMENA countries ranging from Algeria, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Tunisia etc. The inaugural address will be held by Guido Westerwelle, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Germany, on 7th November. We are also delighted that Günther Oettinger, EU Commissioner for Energy, will give a key note speech on November 8th. For all confirmed speakers please see program.
