BayWa holding RENERCO raises stake in "La Muela" Wind Park in Spain

Munich - BayWa r.e GmbH has raised the stake it already owns in \"La Muela\" Wind Park in Spain through majority-owned RENERCO Renewable Energy Concepts AG (RENERCO). The share held by BayWa AG via its subsidiaries BayWa r.e / RENERCO in Spain\'s largest wind park has thus been raised from 33 percent to 73 percent. The transaction serves to underscore the BayWa Group’s commitment to the Spanish wind market. Shell Overseas Holding Ltd is the seller of the shares.

\"La Muela\" Wind Park is situated in the region of Aragon in Spain. The installed output of the wind park, which consists of 132 x 0.75 MW Vestas NM 750 wind turbines, comes to 99 MW. RENERCO participated in developing this project and is responsible for its ongoing technical operation. The wind park was commissioned in 2003. The annual average electricity production amounts to 200 GWh and ensures the supply of electricity to approximately 50,000 Spanish households.


BayWa r.e GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BayWa AG. The Group has concentrated all its activities in the field of renewable energies under BayWa r.e and is positioning itself in this growth market. Through the subsidiaries of BayWa r.e, which operate internationally in the areas of biogas and photovoltaic plants and wind farms, BayWa has established itself in the renewable energies sector. BayWa focuses on project development, the construction of plants and trading in modules but is, however, not actively involved in the technical manufacturing of plant components.

RENERCO Renewable Energy Concepts AG has been operating in the renewable energies business since 1989. The company concentrates on the four business lines of wind energy, photovoltaics, geothermal energy and bioenergy. Its regional focus is on Germany as its home market and other countries in Europe.
The company’s range of products and services comprise project development, planning and the turnkey construction of renewable energy plants. RENERCO also offers the technical and commercial operation of power generation units and advises investors, investment companies and banks on technical and commercial issues. RENERCO has been majority owned by BayWa r.e GmbH since the end of 2009.
