juwi Group Creates Additional Workplaces and Expands Company Headquarters

- German project developer continues steady growth

Woerrstadt - The juwi group continues its steady growth and expands its company headquarters in Wörrstadt (Rhineland-Palatinate) with two additional building parts by March 2012, then offering workplaces for around 1,500 employees.

As juwi CEO Matthias Willenbacher explains: \"juwi has grown steadily in the last years and will take on 500 new employees this year, most of them will work in Wörrstadt. With the new building extension we are creating workplaces for an additional 400 of staff.\" juwi opened its company headquarters in 2008 and expanded it twice – in 2009 and in 2010. Now, two additional building parts with a total of 11,000 square meters gross floor area will be constructed on 2,000 square meters of ground floor. The new edifice includes a building complex with reception, offices, meeting rooms, an executive floor and a building for the cafeteria/ restaurant and kitchen. The new building is four stories high and has a basement in some parts. With an overall height of 13 meters it is one floor higher than the previous juwi buildings.

Griffner, the high-profile specialist in ecological prefabricated buildings, was again awarded the contract for the office complex. With the new construction, both companies continue with their successful cooperation, as Griffner also constructed the other buildings. juwi’ s headquarters are regarded as one of the world’s most energy-efficient office buildings. In 2008, it was awarded with the German Climate Protection Prize by the environmental NGO Deutsche Umwelthilfe.

\"With the new building complex we want to surpass the enormous energy-efficiency of the first buildings\" says Ralf Ratanski, head of Green Buildings, a juwi subsidiary that develops the project. juwi Green Buildings GmbH is a specialist for the ecological construction and reconstruction of houses and buildings.

The buildings’ architecture, fixtures and fittings are all designed to comply with an overarching principle emphasising conservation of resources. The new complex will be built in wood truss construction, inner and outer walls will be pre-constructed in noggin piece wall elements, delivered to and mounted at the construction site. Roof and ceiling elements will be manufactured using massive wallboard.

Primary energy requirements for heat, warm water and electricity are to be met solely from regenerative sources such as wind power, solar power and bio energy.

\"We have been convinced by the Griffner concept, not only regarding the construction costs and the required ecological quality of used material, but also regarding the short construction period of less than eight months\" adds Ralf Ratanski. Both buildings are expected to be completed by the end of March 2012.
