Global Capital Finance arranges the acquisition of the Bockelwitz wind farm for BKW FMB Energie AG

Frankfurt/Main - Global Capital Finance has arranged the acquisition of the Bockelwitz wind farm for BKW FMB Energie AG (BKW), Berne, one of the leading Swiss utilities. Global Capital Finance acted as advisor to BKW for the transaction that was signed in Frankfurt am Main on September 30.

The Bockelwitz wind farm is located between Leipzig and Dresden (Germany), comprises ten Tacke TW 1.5 turbines with a hub height of 76 meters and is in operation since 1999. It was originally commissioned by Das Grüne Emissionshaus (DGE), Freiburg im Breisgau, for a closed retail fund from which the farm was now purchased by BKW for an undisclosed price. The Bockelwitz wind farm has a total nominal power of 15 MW. With the acquisition of this wind farm that produces approximately 22 GWh p.a., BKW starts its wind energy production activities in Germany. This transaction therefore is an important step for BKW towards a further diversification of its electrical power production mix.

BKW is one of the leading Swiss utilities with an annual electricity turnover of some 24 TWh (production 9.7 TWh) and a customer base of approximately 1 million mainly in Northern and Western Switzerland. Majority shareholder is the Canton of Berne (52.9%). E.ON Energie AG holds 20%, the remainder is free-float. BKW is listed at the SWX Swiss Exchange (Ticker BKWN/ CH0021607004).
