Eolia Renovables integrates pan-European wind farm operator renergys

- renergys to become part of Eolia Renovables growing international footprint


Zurich - Eolia Renovables, a Spanish renewable energy company managed by N+1 Eolia, announces the acquisition of the renergys Group ("renergys"). renergys, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, is a pan-European wind energy developer, owner and operator with a portfolio of wind assets in Germany, France, Poland and Portugal. The company is currently owned by GermanCapital, Ramius Capital, Sopaf and Morgan Stanley.

The combination of the two businesses will strengthen Eolia’s international portfolio, grow renergys’ market position and help accelerate growth in this future market. The acquisition of renergys will add 474Mw to Eolia’s existing wind farm portfolio, of which 77Mw are in operation, 40Mw are under construction, 77Mw are in final phases of development and 280Mw are in earlier stage development. The experienced team of renergys will help to accelerate the company’s international expansion plans with Mark Jones, CEO of renergys, taking over the responsibility for international development in the new group.

Once renergys’ wind assets are added to the existing Eolia Renovables portfolio, the company will have 1,855Mw of capacity, of which 762Mw are in operation and/or construction, 813Mw are in final stage of development and 280Mw in earlier stage of development. The integration increases the company’s operations outside Spain from 324Mw to 798Mw, more than doubling its international asset portfolio. The deal makes Eolia Renovables one of the largest independent wind and solar companies in Europe.

Eolia Renovables growth continues unabated and during the last two months the company has announced the integration of a 45% interest in a 20Mw wind farm in the Canary Islands and a 100% interest in a 3.5Mw solar farm in Murcia.

Miguel Salís, CEO of N+1 Eolia, the management company of Eolia Renovables, commented: "This integration is a major milestone in the development of Eolia’s international portfolio and it gives us a strong European footprint in a region with enormous growth potential. Our strong strategic and financial position has allowed us over the last years to continuously convince partners to join Eolia and develop our firm further".

The management team of renergys will be responsible for the international expansion oft the new group. Mark Jones, CEO of the renergys Group, comments: "This strategic investment by Eolia shows that renergys’ business case is highly appealing for investors. Together with Eolia Renovables, we can seize new opportunities to accelerate our international growth."

This transaction is subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions precedent, amongst others the approval of the proposed increase of capital of the company by the Eolia´s shareholders meeting, to be held next September 16th,
