Decentralised Energy Systems - a symposium adressing the integration of renewable energy technologies in tomorrow`s energy supply

Oldenburg, 19 January 2007 - Renewable energies have increased their contribution to most countries’ energy mixes with a breathtaking speed. Mediumterm expectations are even more optimistic. This technological development comes along with a structural change in most electricity markets due to liberalisation and unbundling efforts.
As a result, decentralised solutions more and more become an integral part of a so far predominantly centralised energy sector.

The symposium “Decentralised Energy Systems – Integrating Renewable Energy Technologies in Tomorrow’s Energy Supply” on February 15 – 16, 2007 at the University of Oldenburg, Germany, addresses this situation.

The contributions by international experts will present the current state-of-the-art of renewable energy technologies and discuss their contributions in a future energy supply system.

The aim of this symposium is to bring together scientists (e.g. National Laboratory Risø, ECN, ZSW, DLR, ForWind) and engineers with stakeholders from politics and industry (e.g. E.ON, EWE, GE Energy, Siemens ) on an European level to promote a successful mutual exchange.

The conference location is the University of Oldenburg. The conference language is English.

It is organized by ForWind, the Center for Wind Energy Research of the Universities of Oldenburg and Hannover, in cooperation with the Assembly of European Regions (AER) and shall especially address the European perspective of decentralised energy systems.
