North Sea Offshore wind farm N

Ladenburg / Enge Sande, December 1st 2005 - After 4 years of planning, Nördlicher Grund GmbH has reached an important milestone in the realisation of the 400-MW pilot wind park. On December 1st 2005, the Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrografie (≈ German authority for navigation and hydrography) approved the construction of 80 wind turbines 108 km north-west of Helgoland.

For the consortium consisting of GEO Gesellschaft für Energie und Ökologie mbH and renergys GmbH this first important approval lays the solid foundation for the further development of the project.

According to time schedule, the wind farm will provide 400.000 households with green electricity in 2008. In this context the consortium intends to continue its brilliant collaboration that has proved its worth not only in the offshore field.

This success is an essential step to complete the approval process. Consequently, GEO and renergys will attain an excellent position in the wind power market, says Markus Lesser, Managing Director of renergys GmbH.

Marten Jensen, Managing Director of GEO, pointed out that based on this approval the position for cross-project safety and operational maintenance concepts has been strengthened, considering other offshore wind farms in this area, for which approvals have already been achieved.
