REpower gains further strategic investor - AREVA group acquires 21 percent of share capital

Hamburg, 28 September 2005. REpower Systems AG (WKN 617 703) has gained a major new strategic investor with AREVA, a leading supplier of clean energy technologies. The AREVA group’s Supervisory Board approved the acquisition of 21 percent of the share capital of wind turbine manufacturer REpower. Some of the shares come from the sale of the portfolio of RE-DKW Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, which is owned by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Dr. Klaus Detlef Wulf.

With power station capacities in more than 40 countries and a sales volume of EUR 11.1 billion, AREVA is one of the world’s leading companies in the energy sector. The group can call on high levels of expertise in the area of generators and current transfer as well as a worldwide service network. The entry of the AREVA energy group will allow REpower to further extend its leading position in the wind sector and means the company is well positioned to benefit from the strong growth expected in the next few years, particularly in the offshore area.
