Intersolar Europe 2016: BayWa r.e. to receive the first VDE certificate for ground mounted photovoltaic plants

Munich (renewablepress) - BayWa r.e. is the first company in the solar sector to be awarded a VDE certificate for the installation of standardised photovoltaic (PV) power plants. The award will be presented at the Intersolar Europe 2016. As part of the certification process, VDE Prüf- und Zertifizierungsinstitut GmbH (VDE Testing and Certification Institute) verified and evaluated process and documentation standards during the systematic installation of ground mounted PV plants, including the planning, design and implementation of PV projects. The success of gaining certification lets BayWa r.e. set new benchmarks for the solar sector not only in Germany but also further afield: the certificate is valid for all markets in which BayWa r.e. is active in project business.

Matthias Taft, Board Member of BayWa AG with responsibility for the energy business, received the certificate from Dr. Beate Mand, Board Member of the Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (VDE) and Prof. Eicke R. Weber, Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE: \"Comprehensive and systematic verification of processes by independent VDE experts during the installation of ground mounted PV plants is a milestone for us and the entire solar sector,\" says Taft. \"This certification shows that we, at BayWa r.e., always put quality first when it comes to our projects. At the same time, quality standards are being defined for the first time for the process of project planning of ground mounted PV plants, setting a future benchmark for the industry as a whole.\"

Dr. Beate Mand adds: \"The VDE is proud of the fact that, with this newly developed service for standardised PV power plants, we are able to boost the confidence of all parties concerned in the reliability and quality, and in turn, in the sustainable growth of solar energy. I am delighted to be able to present this certificate to BayWa r.e, an innovative, internationally recognised project planner. With this quality certificate, the VDE recognises, in particular, the extremely well planned and implemented processes that form part of project development.\"

The process quality extends to all areas of project planning for PV plants: the certificate, for example, covers project organisation and design, component selection, purchasing, logistics and aspects of system installation, commissioning, maintenance and quality assurance, for example.
