Swedish Project Developer Windico AB signs 15 MW contract with Kenersys

- Vind2010: Good Perspective On Swedish Wind Market

Münster - Sweden has some of the best wind resources in the world, but at present, wind energy only contributes about 2 percent to total power consumption. But the numbers are increasing: 198 new wind turbines were installed in Sweden during 2009 and the electricity harnessed from wind increased by nearly 26 percent in 2009 compared to 2008. And the targets are ambitious: The Swedish government is planning for a tenfold increase in wind energy by 2020, mainly driven by local players to raise the acceptance.

At the national wind energy congress VIND2010 Swedish project developer Windico AB (Ånge) signed a contract with German wind turbine manufacturer Kenersys. 6 Kenersys K100 2.5MW with a hub height of 100 meters, are intended for a wind farm project near the city of Ånge, Västernorrland. The project, totalling 15 MW, was developed by Windico AB. The Portberget wind park will be installed and commissioned by 2011. In addition to the 6 turbines for the Portberget site Windico and Kenersys agreed upon an option for additional 8 Kenersys K100 turbines.

Andreas von Bobart, CEO Kenersys Europe, states: \"With this project signed at the Vind2010 we are on a good way to establish our company in the Swedish market along with the existing and contracted projects in Sweden. We are happy to announce this contract with Windico since the company is very ambitious to build medium-sized projects in Sweden with a high local acceptance. That is the way Kenersys wants to grow with its partners in Sweden\".

The Portberget wind park will provide 4,500 households in the region with clean, wind powered electricity.
