Phoenix Solar AG builds solar power plants with peak output of 50 megawatts in 2008

- 5.6 megawatts ground mounted PV plant for KGAL connected to the grid
- Projects successfully completed in Germany, Spain and Greece

Sulzemoos - In the course of 2008 Phoenix Solar AG has designed and built turnkey solar power plants with a combined peak power output of 50 megawatts (MW) alone in the power plants segment in Germany, Spain and Greece. The final construction project to be completed in 2008 is a ground mounted photovoltaic power plant with a peak output of 5.6 MW in Hasborn in Rhineland-Palatinate. The plant was connected to local power supplier RWE’s grid just this week.

The owner of the solar power plant in Hasborn is a project company owned by our long-standing partner KGAL (KG Allgemeine Leasing GmbH & Co.), for whom Phoenix Solar AG has in recent years built solar parks with a total output of over 34 MW. The Hasborn plant will generate some 5.6 million kilowatt hours of electricity on a site covering around 17 hectares. This output is sufficient to supply around 1,600 households on a yearly basis with environmentally friendly power.

The Hasborn project was developed by Bürgerservice Trier, before being taken over by Phoenix Solar and sold to KGAL. Phoenix Solar acted as main contractor for the project and will in addition undertake maintenance and operation for 20 years.

"We are very satisfied this year with both the projects side of our business and the components and systems segment," commented Dr. Andreas Hänel, CEO of Phoenix Solar AG. "Several megawatt projects have already been signed up for the coming year and others are due to be finalized shortly. Despite the reduced feed-in tariffs, we will still be building solar power plants in Germany in 2009."

This is an English translation of the German. Only the German version is binding.
