Sulzemoos, 15 November 2006 / After a good third quarter, Phönix SonnenStrom AG (ISIN DE000A0BVU93) has virtually made up for the weak first half year. The Group’s total sales revenues over the period from 1 July until 30 September 2006 came to € 28.6 million, which is an increase of more than 30 percent over the previous year’s period (€ 21.9 million). EBIT stood at € 1.49 million in the third quarter, thereby exceeding the 2005 figure of € 1.20 million by almost 25 percent. The EBIT margin in the third quarter was 5.2 percent which was considerably higher than in the preceding quarter (0.7 percent). Accordingly, it almost reached the level of previous year (5.4 percent).

Sales in the Power Plants segment soared 360 percent in the third quarter as against the previous year’s period. Following the completion and invoicing of a number of major projects, sales revenues came to € 14.2 million as compared with € 3.1 million generated in the third quarter of 2005. The Components & Systems segment saw sales decline 16 percent from € 18.8 million to € 14.4 million.

In the period from January to September 2006, the Group’s sales revenues totalled € 65.3 million, thus virtually unchanged from the previous year’s figure (€ 65.8 million). In the same period, EBIT stood at € 1.77 million as compared with € 4.0 million after the first nine months of 2005. Consolidated pre-tax profit came in at € 1.17 million (third quarter of
2005: € 2.61 million).

On 30 September 2006, the orders on hand of the Phönix SonnenStrom Group had reached € 36.5 million, and are thus still running at a very high level. This was mainly attributable to a number of major orders placed with the Power Plants segment which are to be completed and go into operation by the end of the year. Moreover, the order book already includes orders which will take the company through to the end of the first quarter of 2007.

The Board of Directors today adjusted its sales and earnings forecast for the year 2006 as a whole, thereby taking account not only of the impact of individual factors but also the current situation on the market. Owing to the fact that a contractually agreed project worth € 12.5 million for the construction of a power plant could not be completed due to the exit of one of the project financiers and that demand in the German market has not yet come up to expectations, total sales revenues are expected to be between € 115 and 130 million and EBIT has been set at between € 4.0 and 5.5 million, adjusted for special effects. The latter is the result of the switch in the official market (Prime Standard) and changes in financial reporting under IFRS as opposed to the German Commercial Code which was formerly applied .

The Interim Report as at 30 September 2006 will be released on 23 November and can be downloaded from our web site at http://www.SonnenStromAG.de under the heading Investor Relations.
